Common questions

How do I split a bill item by item?: Tap Split → By item on Calculate, or New split in the Split tab. Add the people, then add the items or scan the receipt, and tap a name on each item to give it to that person — or Everyone to share it. If you start from the items, the bill fills in from them.
How do I split evenly?: Tap Split → Evenly on Calculate, then set the number of people.
What do I write on the receipt?: Tap the total on Calculate. Gratify shows the bill, the tax, the tip with its percent, and the total — plus each person's share when you're splitting evenly.
How does receipt scanning work?: Receipt scanning is part of Gratify Pro. Scan the receipt or pick a photo of it, and Gratify reads it on your phone — nothing is uploaded. It works best with the receipt flat, in bright light, and entirely in frame. You review each item before it's added.
The receipt had no tip, or the tax was read wrong.: On the split screen, tap the Tax · Tip · Total line to change the bill, tax, and tip.
What does Gratify Pro include, and is it a subscription?: Receipt scanning, unlimited history with receipts, saved groups, and iCloud sync across your devices. It's a single one-time payment — no subscription.
How do I restore my purchase?: Open Settings → Gratify Pro → Restore purchases. As long as you're signed into the same Apple Account you bought it with, Gratify Pro will reactivate.
Why can I only open three bills in History?: The free version keeps every bill and opens the three newest. Gratify Pro opens all of them. Nothing is deleted either way.
iCloud sync isn't working.: Check that Gratify Pro is unlocked on each device, that each device is signed into iCloud, and that iCloud is allowed for Gratify. Sync starts the next time you open Gratify after unlocking Pro.
How accurate is the travel tipping guide?: It covers general tipping customs for 50 countries. Local practice varies, so treat it as a starting point.
How do I delete a bill or start over?: Swipe a bill in History to delete it. To start over, tap Clear on Calculate, or swipe the current split in the Split tab.
