Paddle Wars Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
Paddle Wars is a competitive pickleball app where real-world courts are Arenas you can claim, hold, and defend through verified, geofenced matches and ranked ladders. Unlike some of our other apps, Paddle Wars has player accounts and a server, so it does collect and store some data to make the game work. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address (for sign-in), a hashed password, your handle, and an optional display name
- An optional profile photo (avatar) you choose to upload
- Location: your precise location is used on your device to show nearby courts, and is sent to our server only at check-in to verify you are physically at the court (the geofence check)
- Gameplay data you generate by playing: matches, scores, ratings, court claims and defenses, disputes, and similar records, tied to your account
- Social data: your friends list, and the teams you belong to (see Teams below)
- Subscription status: whether Paddle Wars Pro is active, expired, or in its trial period — never your payment details (see In-app purchases below)
- A device notification token, only if you turn on notifications
How we use it
We use this data only to operate the game: to run your account, match you with other players, verify geofenced check-ins and results, compute ratings and leaderboards, unlock the features your subscription includes, and send the notifications you opt into.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
Paddle Wars Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment — CLMS Studio never sees or stores your card number, billing address, or any other payment details.
What we store against your account is only your subscription status — whether Pro is active, expired, or in its free-trial period, and when the current period ends — so the app knows which features to unlock. Manage or cancel the subscription in your device's App Store account settings; see the Paddle Wars Terms of Use for the full subscription terms.
Apple Health
If you opt in, Paddle Wars saves your finished matches to Apple Health as pickleball workouts (duration and an estimated calorie burn). This is written to the Health app on your device only — it is never transmitted to us and is never stored on our servers. Paddle Wars does not read any health data.
What other players can and cannot see
Paddle Wars is a competitive ladder, so some information is public to other players: your handle, rank tier, rating, and which courts you hold. When you check in, others can see that you are playing at that court — but never your precise location. Your email, password, and exact coordinates are never shown to other players.
Teams
If you create or join a team, we store your team membership and the team's details: its name, its crest, and its roster. Teams are visible to other players — a team's name, crest, roster, and record can be seen by anyone in the app, and your handle appears on the roster of any team you belong to. Team names and crests are moderated and may be removed.
You can leave a team at any time from within the app. Leaving removes you from the roster; matches the team already played stay in its record.
Friends and presence
Paddle Wars lets you add other players as friends, see when they are online or marked available, and broadcast an "up for a game" signal so nearby friends know you are looking to play.
Presence information is ephemeral, friends-only, and never location-precise:
- Friends-only — your online / available status and any "up for a game" signal are shown only to players you have accepted as friends, never publicly and never on leaderboards
- Ephemeral — presence is current-state only. It expires on its own when you go offline, when the signal times out, or when you turn it off; we do not keep a history of when you were online or available
- Never precise location — presence never shares your coordinates. The most anyone sees is that you are at a given court, at the court's own location, and only after you have checked in there
You can remove a friend, turn off availability, or stop broadcasting at any time in the app. Removing a friend immediately stops sharing presence with them.
What we do NOT do
- We do not use third-party advertising networks
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites
- We do not sell your data
Where your data lives
Account and gameplay data are stored on our backend, hosted on Supabase (a managed Postgres database and file storage). Data is encrypted in transit using standard HTTPS/TLS. We restrict access to player data with row-level security so the app only returns data you are allowed to see.
Your choices
- Location and notification permissions can be changed any time in iOS Settings; the app requests them only with a clear explanation
- You can block or report other players from within the app
- You can leave a team, remove a friend, or turn off presence sharing at any time
- You can delete your account and its data from inside the app — see below
Deleting your account
You can delete your Paddle Wars account from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your account and the personal data tied to it — your email, handle, display name, avatar, friends, team memberships, and presence — from our servers.
Matches you played involve other players, so match records are retained in anonymised form (your handle is removed) to keep their opponents' history and ratings intact.
If you can't get into the app to delete the account yourself, email support@clmsstudio.com from the address on the account and we'll delete it for you.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Paddle Wars Pro subscription — cancel that in your device's App Store account settings.
Children
Paddle Wars is not directed at children under 13 and is not designed for use by children without supervision.
